The Jekyll Island Authority said this week it's approved an agreement with Twentieth Century Fox to film the fifth X-Men action movie based on the Marvel comic books about mutant superheros.
The Savannah Morning News reports that the producers have agreed to pay the authority $16,000 for use of a 4.5-acre beach area east of Beachview Drive and the Clam Creek fishing pier. The agreement also calls for the producers to provide beach-quality sand at one of the sites.
Fox spokesman Chris Petrikin said Jekyll Island was picked for its visual aesthetic, ease of travel and the local availability of housing and equipment.
